Inside the shop "tools" This is where you'll see the tools used to make MCS guitars. |
Moser Custom Shop is a 1200 sq. ft. facility. |

This is my Delta 14" band
saw. I use it for cutting bodies, bone, plastic and a number of other
things. |
This is a Grizzly 12" band
saw. I use this one for cutting metal only. This is what I use for making
brass and stainless steel truss rod covers. This band saw has a variable
speed motor which is important for cutting metal. |

The Marlin router is one of the most versitile
machines I've ever used. |
Another view of the Marlin. |

Craftsman 6" belt sander.
We use this for more things than I can mention. I had one just like it
at BC Rich and it was right next to my bench. I used that one mostly for
making nut bones. |
Grizzly 6" jointer. We use
this for joining the body sides for bolt on guitars and for leveling the
neck angles on a neck-thru neck blank. |

This is a Grizzly vertical oscillating
drum sander. Again, too many uses to mention. |
I saw this sander at the NAMM
show in January 03; I went home and ordered it. I love this machine. |

This is a Delta 4" belt sander.
I use this for making nut bones. |
Porter Cable routers. They are
the best routers I've ever used. Very solid and last a long time. They're
very powerful and take 1/2" bits. That template is the electronics
cavity temp for the Bich PMS. |

This is my CHEAPO floor model
drill press. You'll notice the vise grips where the handle should be.
I lost that handle in the 94' earth quake. I use this one for machine
head holes and a few other things. |
This is a CHEAPO bench drill press.
I use this for countersinking screw holes in plastic plates. Head plates,
back plates, etc. |

On the left is a 1" vertical belt sander.
It's a very good utility tool. On the right, you're basic 8" grinder
for sharpening tools. |
The Dremel is a very important tool used in
guitar building. It has countless uses. The Makita die grinder is its
big brother. This is another tool with countless uses. When I walked in
to BC Rich in 1974 they'd never seen one. I went through a number of them
in 11 years. |

This is a Dremel that's set up for inlaying. |
This is a Waverly designed attachment
that is sold by Stewart MacDonalds. |

Here's some close ups of the bit. This tool
works very well. |

Grizzly 12" surface planer. Another great
machine. This is the easiest way to get the body sides the right thickness. |
Rockler routing table. This is the "poor
mans" pin router. I use it with a plexi flat temp to cut out complex
shapes. If you know what you're doing and have good touch, you might be
able to rout out a body shape without turning it into toothpicks. |

This is a Bailey No. 6 Bench Plane. You can't
use the Mexican building method without it. |
These are Mexican Luther's knives. We use
these for many procedures. Carving necks, blending in heels and headstocks.
Etc. |

Grizzly Dust Reclamation System.
I have this hooked up to my surface planer, verticle drum sander and 6"
jointer. 2 hp, very quiet. Works great. |
The most important tools in my shop. :-) |
