This is a beautiful Bich 10
which has come to be known as the "Swimming Pool Bich" As of 6-26-07 it is now owned by Randy Waltuch |

The piece of quilt Maple used
for the neck on this guitar is wider than on most BCRs. |
My fingerprints are all over this
guitar. I did all the final setup work between 1974 and 1985. |

Definitely one of my bones. |
If you know what to look for, you can tell
in a second if I was the one who worked on or set up your BCR guitar. |

These BC Rich/Kahler Quad bridges
are really nice. |
See those holes next to the ball
ends of the strings; they had to be drilled to accept the strings going
to the tail tuners. That was another one of MY jobs. |

The electronics are very unique in this Bich.
They may look very much like normal Bich electronics, but they're not.
The middle booster switch was moved to below the bridge pickup and the Varitone has an in and out switch. These are minor adjustments except for the fact that they all run off the booster switch. Let me explain. With this guitar you can pre-set what position you want the Varitone in and whether you want it in or out of the circuit when the booster is turned on. Also, the out of phase switch only works when the booster circuit is turned on. Thus, you can choose whether you want the guitar to be out of phase and which position you want the Varitone in, before you activate them by turning on the booster. This gives you a great and diversified change in the sound of the guitar when you take a lead by turning on the booster. VERY COOL. I couldn't help but have my pic taken with this AWESOME BICH 10. DAMN we built'em great back then. |

What are the odds? First, I see this beautiful blue Bich on eBay. Then, Duncan Plexico sends me an email telling me he needs me to work on the electronics and he brings it to me. All along I have this feeling I should remember this guitar, it's so unique, and it has my personal wiring concept in it. Next, an old friend of mine, Mike Vangerov, comes over to my house to talk to me about building him a custom guitar. We start talking about what color to paint his new guitar and Mike reminds me of a Bich we built for him back in the early 80s. He says, "Remember, it looked like the water in a swimming pool". Then I say "I’ve got this beautiful Bich here right now that looks like that". To make a long story short, Mike takes one look at this Bich and freaks out. "That's my old Bich" he says. This is the first time I've seen Mike in 15 years and he happens to come over to my house just when I have his old Custom Made Bich 10 here for repair. What are the odds? Mike is the guitar player for Liquid Blue. This band has won more "Best Band" titles than any band I've ever heard of before. Check out their web site. www.liquid-blue.com |
